LODI — The Lodi Police Department has arrested three suspects on firearms-related charges since Saturday, according to Lt. Fernando Martinez.

“These types of arrests usually go in cycles, so this is nothing unusual,” Martinez said.

Officers responded to reports of a DUI collision in the parking lot of a bar on the 200 block of South Cherokee Lane at approximately 12:51 a.m. Saturday, where they identified Christina Zavala, 21, of Stockton, as the driver responsible.

While searching the vehicle, officers found Nicole Cervantes, 26, of Stockton in possession of marijuana packaged for sale as well as a loaded, concealed handgun, Martinez said.

Zavala was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and an outstanding warrant, and Cervantes was arrested on suspicion of multiple firearms violations and possession of marijuana for sale.

During a traffic stop in the area of North Main Street and East Pine Street at approximately 6:35 p.m. Tuesday, detectives Jose Nuno and Michael Hitchcock saw a gun on the vehicle’s floorboard.

The front passenger, a 16-year-old male, was found to be in possession of a loaded revolver and arrested on suspicion of several firearms-related charges.

“Usually, gang members are juveniles, and gang members like to carry weapons. So, every now and then, we’ll get a juvenile with a weapon,” Martinez said.

When officers attempted to contact Adan Aguilera, 20, on the 500 block of East Locust Street at approximately 12:36 a.m. Wednesday, Aguilera fled through an apartment complex and threw away a loaded handgun, Martinez said.

The handgun was recovered, and Aguilera was arrested on suspicion of resisting arrest and weapons violations.
