Wallace H. Emery, age 82, died on Saturday, February 10th, 2018.

He was born in Lodi, CA was the son of Dick Emery former owner of Emery & Brown, and Elizabeth Emery, former owner of the Elizabeth specialty dress shop in Lodi, CA.

He began bodybuildi­ng at age 14 and spent years training with his high school, military, and life long friend Jerry Furchner. After graduating from Lodi Union High School, he and Jerry joined the army together and somehow survived the buddy program. In the army he became a medic. He entered the Mr. Universe in Germany and was the runner up.

Following his military tour, he continued his bodybuildi­ng and pursued training in the martial arts. He earned black belts in both Tae Kwan Do and Tang Soo Do. He partnered with Harold Lloyde, Jr. and founded the Emery/ Lloyde production­s.

After the loss of Mr. Lloyde, Wally returned to the fitness world. He worked for Jack LaLanne and served as President and general manager for the Chuck Norris karate studios. He worked as a trainer for the LA Kings. He went on in healthcare and worked with Jim Heaney providing H-wave therapy utilized for pain suppressio­n and enhanced rehabilita­tion. They worked for over fifty major sports across the US including the Rams, Lakers, and 49’ers.

After suffering a heart attack and undergoing quadruple bypass surgery in 2001, Wally got back into shape and won the 2002 Body for Life EAS inspiratio­nal Grand Champion. Wally was on the advisory committee for the California State Athletic Commission and was inducted into the sports Hall of Fame in March of 1999.

Wally is survived by his sister Martha Cutler, daughter, Yasmin Emery-Brownlie, and granddaugh­ter, Dakota.

Memorial Service to be held at 1:00pm Sunday at Lodi Funeral Home, 725 Fairmont Ave, Lodi, CA 95240. Reception to follow.
