VERNA H. MOORE

Verna H. Moore passed away peacefully in her home in Lodi, Ca on the evening of December 27, 2017, at the age of 98.

Verna was born in Eugene, OR on July 5, 1919 to Violet and Oris Wilkinson. She was the eldest of three children and the only daughter. She worked as school secretary for many years in Fremont, Ca.

She was a devoted wife to Edgar (Bud) Hiebert for 48 years until his passing in July 1987. They retired in Desert Hot Springs, Ca. Verna was an active senior, she taught line dancing, water aerobics and was a participant in the community spoon band. She also volunteered for 18 years at Desert Regional Medical Center.

After Bud’s passing she learned to play Pinochle which is how she met Ivan Moore. They were married in June 1994 and had almost fifteen years together in Palm Desert, Ca until Ivan’s passing in May 2009.

Verna moved to Lodi to be near her daughter five years ago. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Sally and Craig Palmtag, grandchildren; Michelle Henderson, and Melissa DeRenzo, great grandchildren; Wesley, Ryley, Tyler Clingan, Abigail, Joseph, Rebecca DeRenzo, and two great, great grandchildren; Kyra and Caleb Clingan. Two step sons Van Moore and Carlton Moore and their families.

Verna is preceded in death by her first husband Edgar (Bud) Hiebert, second husband Ivan Moore, brothers Ralph Wilkinson, Gayle Tucker, and daughter Darlene Benton.

There will be a memorial service and lunch Thursday, March 1st, at Emanuel Lutheran Church 1540 W. Lodi Avenue, Lodi from 11 a.m., to 12:30 p.m.
