Luella Severson, passed away on the Fifth of March 2018 with her grandchild­ren, Will and Sarah by her side. Luella was born November 19, 1926 in Campbell County, South Dakota, to Emmanuel and Albina Straub. In 1936 she moved with her family to Lodi, California, where she excelled in school and the musical arts, singing in the HS choir all four years. Her father (a preacher) asked her to play the piano at a church camp meeting, where she met Clarence C. Severson. Clarence and Luella married in 1945. They moved into their home on Mickie Grove Road in 1947, where they raised their two children, Janie and Chuck. Luella was active in the local election board and the Lodi Garden Club as well as operated their business, Severson Plumbing Heating & Air conditioni­ng until Clarence’s retirement. She enjoyed working in her garden, playing the piano & organ, as well as singing in her Church’s ladies quartet and trio. She is preceded in death by her husband of 69 years Clarence, and her daughter Janie Lou Ross (also deceased Dr. Philip Ross). She is survived by her siblings; Delora Dais (Ben), Rayvin Straub (Eunice), Nathan Straub (Nancy) and her son Charles Delbert Severson (Lisa Severson). She is also survived by her grandchild­ren, Will Alan Ross, and Sarah Lynn Ross (Brian Parsons PhD), as well as her greatgrand­children Christophe­r Ross Elizalde and Mason Yohan Ross. She was a devoted wife and Mother, loving and nurturing grandmothe­r and greatgrand­mother. She was a true Christian, an exemplary woman, capable of anything, and loved to laugh! A graveside service will be held March 16th at 10:30 at Cherokee Memorial Park, with a Celebratio­n of Life to follow at noon at the Church of God 2100 Tienda Dr. Lodi.
