Lodi High students win annual Lions Club speakers contest

The Lodi Lions Club recently conducted the local club level of the 81st annual Lions Club Multiple District 4 Student Speakers Contest.

The contest is a program that includes most of the 790 local Lions Clubs throughout California. The speech contest topic for 2017-18 is “Integrity and Civility Play What Role in Today’s Society?” The contest offers the opportunit­y for students to earn college scholarshi­p money as they progress through the various levels of speeches within Multiple District 4. The Lions Fourth District Students Speakers Foundation will provide scholarshi­ps totaling $103,500. Ultimately, the overall winner will earn $21,000 in scholarshi­p money.

The Lodi Lions Club contest featured Dylan Elliott, this year’s winner, from Lodi High School, and Evan Seibly, also from Lodi High School.
