Low-income residents of San Joaquin County will be able to obtain free government-surplus food on Thursday in Lodi from 8:30 to 11 a.m. at the Lodi Community Center, 415 Sacramento St., for those living in zip codes 95240, 95241, 95242, 95220, and 95632; in Lockeford from 9 a.m. to noon at Adventist Community Service, 19990 Elliott Road, for those living in zip codes 95227, 95237, 95253 and 95254; in Woodbridge from 10 to 11 a.m. at First Missionary Baptist Church, 673 Woodbridge Road, for those living in zip code 95258; and in Thornton from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. at New Hope School, 26675 N. Sacramento Blvd., for those living in zip code 95686.

The Rooster Tails Fishing Club will hold its monthly breakfast on Friday at the Auburn Elks Lodge, 195 Pine St., Auburn.

Craig Newton, an expert fisherman and owner of Will Fish Tackle in Auburn, will discuss trout fishing and new tackle on the market.

Doors open at 7 a.m., breakfast is served at 8 a.m., and the presentati­on is at 9 a.m. The free event is open to the public, and a wide-selection buffet breakfast is $15.

The Lodi Low Vision Group’s monthly meeting will take place at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Solstice Retirement Facility’s Activity Room, 2145 W. Kettleman Lane, Lodi.

Governor candidate at Lodi Republican Women’s luncheon

John Cox, a Republican candidate for governor of California, will speak at the Lodi Republican Women’s luncehon at 11 a.m. March 21. The luncheon will be held at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, 800 E. Woodbridge Road, Woodbridge.

Bear Creek Community Church seeking runners

Bear Creek Community Church will host its 14th annual Easter Run & Fun at Lodi Lake on March 24, and registrati­on is open. The run benefits the Lodi Salvation Army’s Hope Harbor Family Service Center. Runners and walkers who register for the 5K and 10K races will receive a T-shirt, free pancake breakfast, and raffle entry. There will also be a kids’ fun run.

For everyone else, the pancake breakfast will be $5 from 9 to 11:30 a.m. at the church, 11171 N. Lower Sacramento Road. A free Easter carnival will also be held at the church until noon.

AAUW Home Tour tickets on sale this week

The 46th annual AAUW Home Tour, “Jackson: Tour Through Time,” will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 21. The tour will feature five homes representi­ng periods from the 1890s to the 1950s, along with five historical sites, one never before open to the public.

Enjoy tea and homemade cookies, an art show and a raffle for special baskets. Tickets are $25 in advance or $28 at the door, and will be on sale starting March 16.
