- — Mark Zeigler, San Diego Union-Tribune

San Diego State will play its first NCAA Tournament game since 2015 at 4:20 p.m. PDT Thursday in Wichita, Kan., against Houston. The game will be televised on TBS.

The Aztecs (22-10) were seeded 11th in the bracket announced Sunday by the NCAA. Houston was seeded sixth with a 26-7 record after losing in Sunday's AAC tournament final to Cincinnati. The Cougars finished third in the AAC in the regular season.

If SDSU wins Thursday, it would play Saturday against the winner of the Michigan-Montana game. The winner of that game advances to the West Regional the following week at Staples Center in Los Angeles.

The Aztecs earned their NCAA berth Saturday by defeating New Mexico in the championship game of the Mountain West tournament. The win was SDSU's ninth straight.

Four games will be played Friday and Sunday at SDSU's Viejas Arena, two from the East Regional and two from the Midwest. In the former, it will be No. 4 Wichita State vs. No. 13 Marshall at 10:30 a.m. and No. 5 West Virginia vs. No. 12 Murray State at about 1 p.m. In the latter it will be No. 4 Auburn vs. No. 13 College of Charleston at 4:27 p.m. and No. 5 Clemson vs. No. 12 New Mexico State at approximately 7 p.m.
