Flames open baseball season 3-0
Lodi High’s baseball team played two games on Saturday in the Pedretti Tournament in Turlock, taking down Pitman 13-3 and Golden Valley 9-0.
Evan Webb led the way against Pitman with a double, a single, three TBIs and four run as the Flames improved to 3-0 in the young season.
Angelo Zazzarino and Cody Mize each added a double and a single, Robbie Loiacono had two singles, Logan Stout doubled and Colton Smithhardt, Bobby Yabumoto, Jose Hinojosa and Fidel Ulloa each had singles. On the mount, Jonathan Charboneau pitched a complete game, allowing seven hits while striking out six.
Against Golden Valley, Stout pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out five.
At the place, Webb had a triple and a double, while Zazzarino, Ulloa and Chad Plath had two singles each. Smithhardt, Hayden Lewis and Charboneau each singled.
Lodi is back in action on Thursday against LibertyBrentwood, at 6 p.m. at Zupo Field.
Chavez 10, Elliot 5
A six-run fourth inning for Chavez was enough to send Elliot to a non-league loss on Monday. Nate Bond went 2for-3 with two RBIs for Elliot, while Nick Figueroa was 2for-4.
Robert Dutcher took the loss with four innings pitched, allowing seven runs on four hits and five walks, while striking out nine.
The Eagles fell 23-3 on Saturday to Antioch. Figueroa went 2-for-3, while Joe Barnhardt and Cody Doell each had a double.
SOFTBALL Varsity Elk Grove Tournament
Lodi High took a pair of losses in Elk Grove on Saturday, falling 7-3 to Casa Roble and 7-4 to Carson.
Against Casa Roble, Ashlee Toy went 2-for-4 and Johnna Schroeder went 2-for-3, while Danielle Pfennig drove in a pair of runs. Schroeder, Marissa Fabian and Allisa Yabumoto each had doubles.
Against Carson, Schroeder went 3-for-3 with a double, and Pfennig drove in three runs. Fabian added a double, and everyone in the starting lineup had at least a single. Frosh-soph
Elk Grove Tournament
The frosh-soph team had a pair of very different wins on Thursday, with a 21-0 win over Laguna Creek and a 4-3 win over Sutter Union.
Sydney Featherston went 4for-4 with three RBIs against Laguna Creek, while Jaelyn Brooks went 3-for-4 with a double and six RBIs, Alexis Bindi went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Mckenzie Evans was 4for-4 with four RBIs and Gillian Donley was 2-for-2.
Featherston drove in two runs against Sutter Union, while Kiara Baker had a single, two walks, four stolen bases and three runs. Jocelyn Moya pitched both games, allowing two hits against Laguna Creek and five in three innings of work against Sutter Union. Bindi closed out against Sutter.
