Dart Container awards $50,000 to Lodi Memorial
The Dart Foundation, a philanthropic foundation of the Dart Container Corporation, recently awarded a $50,000 grant to Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation to support the development of a Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
After a tour of the hospital and demonstration of the telemedicine unit, the donation was presented by local committee members to perinatal director Valerie Stump, Adventist Health-Lodi Memorial President Daniel Wolcott, and LMHF CEO Wayne Craig.
The Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation launched the First Day Capital Campaign in May of 2017 to raise funds for the expansion of the NICU which will be opened in July of this year.
“This generous grant gets us even closer to reaching our $500,000 campaign goal. Having a local employer support the hospital continues a Lodi legacy that began back in the 1940s when the first donors stepped up to support the building of Lodi Memorial. We are very grateful for their contribution” Craig said.
In recognition of their support, a postdelivery patient room will be named The Dart Foundation room and represented by a plaque at the room entry. The Level II NICU will serve deliveries of babies as much as five-weeks premature and keeping some 200 families in town and avoiding the heartache and cost of transferring the newborn out of town. Nearly 1,200 deliveries occur each year at Lodi Memorial.
