JOYCE EDDY

-

A 72-year resident of Courtland, Judy, 94, was called to her heavenly home by God on March 26, 2018. She was born June 26, 1923 in El Paso, Texas to parents Jesse and Abby Crowley. Judy grew up in Lovington, New Mexico, attending schools there, until after graduation from high school, she began working for the military during World War II as a civilian employee.

It was during this time while working for the Army Air Corps that she met her future husband, Cap’t Nelson Eddy. They married in January 1946 and moved to Nelson’s hometown of Courtland, CA. She and Nelson raised 2 sons, Doug, now living in Lodi, and Stan, a Courtland resident.

Judy busied herself in various Delta activities. She served as a Den Mother for the local Cub Scout pack, participated in the La Perita Garden Club, and enjoyed playing in several bridge clubs. She and her husband were founding members of the Courtland Community Church.

She and her husband enjoyed traveling with friends, including trips to Hawaii, China and Thailand. She and her family enjoyed most of all the month-long stays every June at the lake front home on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, where each summer she would entertain many friends from the Delta.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband, Nelson, and her parents. She is survived by her 2 sons, 6 grandkids, Mark (Tiffany), Tony, Nick, Abby, Sarah, and Heather and 5 great grandkids.

Interment will be private at South East Lawn Cemetery, with a memorial service/celebraiton of her life to be planned for later in the Spring.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the family of sisters that provided thoughtful and compassionate care for the last several years of her life.

Memorial donations may be made the charity of the donor’s choice.
