Lodi swimmers shine against Trojans

The Lodi High boys swimming team opened Tri-City Athletic League action with a 111-65 win over Lincoln.

Leading the way for the Flames were Aidan Scott in the 100 backstroke at 56.37 seconds and the 200 intmerdiat­e at 2 minutes, 3.99 seconds. Rylan Stevenson, a freshman, who won the 200 intermedia­te race at 21.77 seconds and the 100 freestyle at 50.31.

Other Lodi swimmers who won their races were Sam Griffith, 200 freestyle at 1:53.57; Will Kim, 100 butterfly at 57.16; Brosnan Elrod, 500 freestyle at 5:23.26 and Michael Matsen, 100 backstroke at 1:06.95. The boys’ 200 and 400 medley relay teams also took first place. Varsity girls

Gianni Pitto and Madeline had strong performanc­es for the Lodi, which also opened Tri-City Athletic League action against Lincoln on Thursday.

Pitto, a senior who is going to Liberty University in Lynchburg, Va. on a scholarshi­p, won the 200 intermedia­te at 2:16.17 and the 100 breaststro­ke at 1:09.28. Woznick, a sophomore, won the 50 freestyle at 24.40 and the 100 freestyle at 52.39.

The duo joined Nicole Coon and Melissa Celli on the 400 freestyle medley relay team that won at 3:48.70. Pitto and Woznick teammed up with Allison Coughlin and Coon as part of the 200 medley relay team that also won at 1:54.90. Frosh-soph boys

Tucker Utley won 100 backstroke and the 200 freestyle in Thursday’s match for the Flames. Other Lodi winners were Victor Plunkett (200 intermedia­te), Ashton DeVries (50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly) Tyler Daley (100 freestyle) and Shane McKay at the 100 breaststro­ke. Frosh-soph girls

Elisa Grim won the 200 intermedia­te and 100 breaststro­ke for Lodi, while Emma Cecchini (100 butterfly and the 100 freestyle). Other Lodi winners were and Madi Rishwain (100 backstroke). Addison Burton captured the 50 freestyle.

BASEBALL

In Thursday’s non-league game at Zupo Field, Tokay had seven hits. Cory Glasgow had two hits for the Tigers, while teammates Joey Heryford, Logan Drummond, Diego Ramirez, Dylan Mahurin and Ryan Lew had one each.

Four Elliot players had a hit each in Thursday’s Central California Athletic Alliance game; Nick Figueroa, Nate Bond, Cody Doell and Alexander Pinasco. Freshmen

Billy Machado had two hits for Lodi in Thursday’s non-league game. Isaac Snider, along with teammates Carson Devine, Jackson Konz, Hayden Hildenbran­d, Connor Costello, Bryce Ostlund and Mason Davis, had a hit each for the Flames, who finished with nine in the game.

SOFTBALL

Olivia Robinson went 4-for-5 with a double, three RBIs and two runs, Caitlin Ahlbach went 3-for-5 with a triple, a double, three RBIs and three runs to help the Flames win on Wednesday.

McKenzie Evans went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and two runs, Sophia Alejandrez had a pair of walks and an RBI, Sydney Feathersto­n had a single and a run, Jaelyn Brooks doubled, had three walks and scored three times and Molly Crosby had a single and a walk. In the circle, Jocelyn Moya went three innings with one earned run, and Alexy Bindi finished the final two innings with three earned runs.

Karen Nateras led the Tigers with two singles and two RBIs, Karol Nateras had a single and two RBIs, Lily Cadena had a single and an RBI and Maura Ambriz and Katelyn Collette had a single each.

BOYS TENNIS

in Thursday’s TCAL meeting, Lodi won two of the three doubles matches by forfeits. Owen Streyle-Seth Larson won their doubles’ match for the Flames. Owen Christense­n and Matt Marine won their meetings in straight sets.

On Wednesday, also in a TCAL contest, Tracy defeated Lodi by an 8-1 score. Streyle-Austin Clayworth were the Flames’ only winners, taking their match in two sets.
