JOANNE A. PORTER

-

JoAnne “JoJo/JP” A. Porter (Adolf) passed away in the early hours of March 28 at the age of 69, but she leaves behind moments big and small of her time here as a life-long Lodi native.

Big moments include her tenacious drive to excel from a part-time cook with a family, to retiring as the Nutrition Specialist for Lodi Unified School District Food Service 33 years later. Plus, her unbounded compassion for others trying to rise up just like she did… whether that was helping out other cooks, simply listening, volunteering at Hospice, or stopping to check in and help regulars she met on the streets.

Smaller, quiet moments include all the epic drives throughout California and beyond (no truck driver could rival her ability to drive nonstop for hours), unparalleled boutique finds, shows with friends, playdates with great-nieces, annual family trips to the ocean where she loved a good storm brewing, and well… there is no forgetting her famous handmade cinnamon rolls, enjoyed by students, co-workers, family and friends, that will now miss the extra love she brought to everything she did.

A strong, kind woman who took great pride in the accomplishments of her sons and close family members. Preceded in death by parents Arthur and Florence Adolf, brother Terry Adolf. She leaves behind two sons, Colby Porter and Caleb Porter (Cheryl Laughlin), brother Tom Adolf (Wanda), sister Debbie Kafton (Dave), niece D’Nell Parker (Austin), nephews Danny Kafton and Tommy Adolf, great-nieces Willow and Piper.
