Lodi Lake docents host ‘Stars at the Lake’

April is Global Astronomy Month, and the Lodi Lake Nature Area Docents and the Stockton Astronomic­al Society will celebrate at Lodi Lake on Friday. Observe the moon, planets, stars and more through the society’s large telescopes, set up on the north side of the lake.

The event begins at 7:30 p.m. Friday and runs until about 10 p.m.

The Lodi Lake Discovery Center will be open from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. while waiting for sunset.

Both events are free. Parking fees in the park will be enforced; parking on the street is free, but is not permitted after 9 p.m. in some locations.

Changing Faces Theater Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “Alice in Wonderland” this weekend.

The pre-show auditions — for children ages 7 to 12 — will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. Main show auditions for performers 13 to 17 will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday. Both sets of auditions will be held at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave., Lodi.

Auditions for those 18 and older are at 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Idea Room, 110 W. Oak St., Lodi. Performers should email Mike Bartram ahead of time at to reserve a space. Rehearsals will begin June 4 at Jessie’s Grove Winery. For more informatio­n, visit

Diabetes group meeting Thursday

The Day-2-Day Diabetes Support Group is holding its next meeting this Thursday at the Lodi Library located at 201 W. Locust St. The meeting starts at 6 p.m. and ends about 7:45 p.m. There is no admission charge and the public is invited, especially family members or friends, of anyone with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, or pre-diabetes.

Our featured speaker is Terri Spring. She is a nutritioni­st with over 30 years of experience. She writes monthly for the Lodi News Sentinel, and is well known in the community for her expertise, ability to relate to the audience, and her terrific sense of humor. There will be time for questions, and often times the attendees will participat­e and share their experience­s, so bring your concerns and get answers.
