Stockton man dies in Lodi crash
A 43-year-old man from Stockton died from injuries sustained in a single-vehicle collision in Lodi on Monday, according to Officer Charlie Katzakian of the California Highway Patrol.
The driver was moving at an undetermined speed in a 2016 Hyundai on Davis Road north of Peltier Road at an unknown time on Monday, when he failed to negotiate a left-hand curve in the roadway, according to the CHP.
The Hyundai left the roadway and continued north into a vineyard, where the right front side of the vehicle struck a large concrete barrier before veering to the left and striking several rows in the vineyard.
After continuing through the vineyard, the front of the vehicle struck two oak trees. The driver exited the vehicle and moved approximately 150 feet through the vineyard, where he is believed to have succumbed to his injuries.
The collision was not reported until approximately 12:15 p.m. Monday, an estimated several hours after it happened, due to the rural location, CHP said.
“Someone that lives around there found the car and called it in. During the investigation, the officer found the driver,” Katzakian said.
The driver’s identity has not yet been released pending next-of-kin notification, and toxicology results are pending as well. Any witnesses or people with information are asked to call Stockton CHP at 209-938-4800.
