Tokay softball finally notches league win

The Tokay High softball team slipped past Lincoln 6-5 on Thursday, taking the lead for good in the sixth inning after trailing 4-2 to notch its first Tri-City Athletic League victory.

Simone Medieros led the Tigers (8-10, 1-9 TCAL) on offense, going 2-for-4 with two triples, three RBIs and two runs. Arianna Lozano added a 2-for-4 day, Mia Misasi had a single and two RBIs, Hailie Beadles had a double and a run, Sydney Giovannoni had a single and Katherine Jackson had a single and a run.

Lozano went seven innings in the circle, allowing six hits and seven walks. Frosh-soph

Leyla Ayala doubled and had two RBIs in Thursday’s loss, along with two singles from Violet Young, a single and an RBi from Lily Cadena, and singles from Belen Espinoza, Katelyn Collette and Jasmine Garcia. Natalie Nord set up both of Ayala’s RBI’s with sacrifice bunts.

BASEBALL

Kyle Shannon went 4-for-4 with a double, three RBIs and three runs, but Tracy held on to defeat the Tigers on Thursday.

Colby Baker was 3-for-5 with a triple, two doubles and three RBIs, Joseph Modesto was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs, Jacob Varney was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs, Ryker Henne had a single and an RBI, Spencer Berdahl had a single and two runs, James Haynes had a single and a run and leadoff hitter Nolan O’Donnell had two walks and three runs. Freshmen

Isaac Snider went 2-for-4 in Thursday’s loss, and Hayden Hildenbran­d had two RBIs. The Flames had singles from Jett Tomek, Mason Davis, Ty Molen and Bryce Ostlund.

TRACK AND FIELD

Erik Ebert won two events for Lodi, in the 200 meters at 22.63 seconds and the 400 at 49.92. James Angel took first in the 1,600 meters\ and the 800 meters at 2 minutes, 6.54 seconds. Varsity girls

Paige Sefried won three events for Lodi; 100 hurdles, 400 hurdles at 59.04 seconds and the 300 hurdles at 48.21.

Katrina Chang won the high jump at 4 feet, 8 inches, while Flame teammate Emily Dubois won the triple jump at 33’8. Ruth Hernandez took first in the 3,200 meters race at 11 minutes, 55 seconds and Raven Edwards taking the long jump at 16’1”. Kelsey Siria won the pole vault at an even 9 feet. Ethan Pipkin won the pole vault at 11 feet, while Flame teammate Bryan Quintero captured the discus at 141 feet, 10 inches. Frosh-soph boys

Noah McGregor claimed three victories for the Flames, with wins in the 110 hurdles, the pole vault (9 feet, 0 inches) and the 300 hurdles (46.15 seconds). Adolfo Sanchez won the 100 at 11.75. Frosh-soph girls

Four Flames claimed individual victories on Thursday, with Katelyn Gonzales winning the 300 hurdles at 56.48, Cecilia Chinchiolo winning the discus at 89-7, Georgia Kelly winning the high jump at 4-4 and Diana Vargas winning the triple jump at 38-8 1/2.

GOLF

Dean Ky fired a 36 for Lodi (9-0 in the TCAL, 14-1) in Thursday’s match at the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, par 37. Christian Toy followed at 44, Ben Ky 45, Ryan Chraska and Ryan Streyle at 46 each.
