Tokay baseball slides past Lincoln
Ryan Lew had two hits for the Tokay High baseball team, which posted a 5-4 win over Lincoln in a Tri-City Athletic League game on the Trojans’ field on Thursday.
Tokay (2-6 in the TCAL, 6-14) only had five hits; one each from Diego Ramirez, Jaime Quesada and Alberto Magallanes. Lincoln had six.

In a non-league game on Thursday, Jett Tomek and Lodi teammates Domenic Demski, Connor Costello and Austin Ashe had a hit each. Bear Creek had 15 hits.

TENNIS
Tokay’s Nick Lozano defeated Lodi’s Jeffrey Barron, 8-2, for the consolation championship at the league tournament at In Shape Marina in Stockton.
To reach the finals, Lozano knocked off Lodi’s Bradon Clayworth 8-1, while Barron took care of West Chance Bills, also by the same score. In the quarterfinals, Lozano beat Tiger teammate Nick Slater, 8-6, and Barron beating Tokay’s Nicholas Hilleary 8-0.
Next Monday, Lodi, which took third place as a team in league, will open the SacJoaquin Section Division II playoffs as the No. 13 seed. The Flames will make the short trek to Elk Grove to play at No. 4 Cosumnes Oaks at 4 p.m. The winner of that match will play the No. 12 Armijo of FairfieldNo. 5 Rocklin winner next Friday.
At the Sierra Valley Conference tournament on Thursday, Liberty Ranch’s No. 1 doubles team of Michael Pryor-Mason Ginni beat Hawk teammates Hunter Franklin-Jacob Mitchell 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 for the title.
Mason Smith and Belen Luna won the mixed doubles title for the Hawks, beating El Dorado’s Gabe Wagner-Samantha Sanchez 6-4, 6-4. Liberty Ranch’s Alejandra FloresStafania fell to Rosemont’s Destiny Fines and Hilary Le 64, 6-0 for second place in the girls’ doubles title match.
Next Monday, Liberty Ranch, too, will be in the section’s team playoffs. Playing in the Division I co-ed bracket, No. 6 Liberty Ranch will host No. 11 Marysville, also at 4 p.m. The winner plays at No. 3 Sonora next Wednesday.

Luke Petersen won the 3,200 meter race at 10 minutes, 59.9 seconds for Lodi. David Giorgi leaped to a first place finish in the pole vault at an even 8 feet. Jose Ramirez raced to a time of 54.96 seconds in the 400 meters. In the shot put, Gabe Biagoni won with a toss of 35 feet. Frosh-soph girls
The Flames won 14 of 15 events at Thursday’s TCAL meet. Multiple winners in many events were Georgia Kelly (high jump), Diana Vargas (400), Hannah Dondero (100), Drue Leventini (discus), Hannah Wilson (800), Katelyn Gonzalez (300 hurdles), Keilana Wall (200), Maelani Rubianes (long jump) and Pamela Decko (3,200 meters).
