Roberta Claire Ruhl, 91, passed away on May 7, 2018 in Lodi at her home.

Roberta was born on September 17, 1926 in Rio Vista, California to Eleanor and Raymond Fisher. She had one sister, Robin.

Roberta graduated from Lodi Academy in 1944. She attended Pacific Union College and went on teach elementary school in Oakland for a year during World War II before coming back to Lodi to teach. She graduated from University of the Pacific in 1964 after having her three daughters. She went back into teaching at Lodi Unified School District as a kindergart­en teacher where she was for over 30 years. When the public schools became unionized, Roberta fought to stay out of the union.

Roberta married Wilbert “Bill” Ruhl on June 22, 1947 at the Central S.D.A. church. She was a member of this church since the age of 12. She was the oldest and longest member of the English Oaks S.D.A. Church and was a very active member of the church.

Roberta and Bill loved to travel the world. One of her most favorite internatio­nal places to go was Hong Kong. She also loved to visit Hawaii. Locally she and Bill would take vacations in Santa Cruz, Ft. Bragg, Carmel, and Pismo Beach.

Roberta was preceded in death by her husband Bill and sister Robin Hansen. She is survived by her three daughters Marcia Ruhl, Valerie (Russell) Laird and Michelle “Mitzi” (Frank) Scott, her four granddaugh­ters Stephanie Dillon, Julie Laird, Claire Abu-Assal and Adrienne Abu-Assal and two great-grandsons Logan and Brandon Dillon.

There will be a memorial service at the English Oaks S.D.A. Church, 1260 West Century Boulevard on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 4:00 pm.
