SARAH HELEN BAUMANN

-

Sarah Helen Baumann (Née Wallace) passed peacefully on May 12, 2018. She was 96 years old. Soft spoken and never one to spare words, “Kitty” let her hands do most of the talking. Her green thumb grew a garden full of gerber daisies, geraniums, and begonias. When she wasn’t in the kitchen baking cookies or making her marvelous sticky buns, she was knitting baby blankets or mending clothes. She never met a pair of pants she couldn’t hem or a seam she couldn’t sew. She even saved one bride’s wedding dress so she could walk down the aisle. Although she had a quiet disposition, she wasn’t timid or shy. She worked at F&M Bank for nearly 30 years before retiring, and was part of a ladies line dancing group that traveled as far as Tennessee to perform. She also raised two girls on her own. She loved “angel” tea (hot tea with milk and sugar), hummingbirds, and hockey.

She will be sorely missed by her two daughters Janice Williams (Dale), and Judy Gomes (Dave), her four grandchildren (JoDee Harrison, Ernie Williams, Addison Williams, and Heidi Kulm), and three greatgrandchildren (Marley Harrison, Jack Williams, and Colt Williams), and many other family members.

She is preceded in death by her parents James and Anna Wallace, her brothers Sam Wallace, and Jack Wallace, sister Jean Rudolph, all of Saskatchewan, Canada, Where Kitty was born and raised until she married and moved to California.

Please join her family for tea and cookies to celebrate Kitty’s life at Bayside Church located at 501 B Street in Galt on May 19, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of sending flowers, her family asks that you spend the money on someone you love. It’s what Kitty would have wanted. Or make a donation to Strong As Steele, P.O. Box 369 Herald, CA 95638.
