New season begins at Lodi Cycle Bowl

On Friday, the Lodi Cycle Bowl will be spinning its wheels for a new season.

The eighth annual Alamo Alarm Night Before the Mile will be taking place at the dirt track. The races on the 1/4 mile dirt track will feature the Alamo Alarm Open Pro class, SDI Pro Dash for Cash, Two Vet Classes and a Vintage class will feature some top riders. Plus, the 250 Shootout will feature the fastest up and coming riders.

The race starts with the New Body MD Fast Qualifier and the time trials to seed the top riders in the world into each heat and paring things down to the fastest 12 rider main event.

Many top riders expected to compete are local amateurs in Christian Spurgeon of Lodi and Hunter Brooks of Manteca. With Lodi’s Justin Anselmi the top 250 rider Chad Cose from Fremont. Other featured riders expected to race on Firday are Mike Rush from San Jose, Tony Meiring from Tracy and the Modesto Mafia of Michael Inderbitzi­n and James Monaco. Riders from Washington, Oregon and Southern California to vie for the hardware.

Race director John Martin feels that “this will be the greatest event ever at the cycle bowl in the 66 years it’s been running.”

The gates open for spectators at 2 p.m, and practices begin at 3:45 p.m. The time trials are scheduled to start at 5 p.m., opening ceremonies at 6 p.m. and racing at 6:30 p.m.
