Community Theatre of Linden holds auditions
The Community Theatre of Linden is producing Neil Simon’s “Rumors,” and is holding open auditions for actors 20 and older for all roles.
The play follows Ken and Chris Gorman as they attend a party celebrating the 10th anniversary of Charle Brock — deputy mayor of New York — and his wife, Myra. After the kitchen staff and Myra go missing and an accidental shooting throws a wrench in the festivities, rumors begin swirling as guests try to figure out the chain of events.
Confusion and miscommunication mount, and through the clever and farcical writing of Neil Simon, a story that is totally incoherent becomes believable to the police officers who arrive unexpectedly.
Community Theatre of Linden is auditioning for four to five female roles, and four to five male roles. Actors should prepare for the audition by memorizing a 1- to 2-minute monologue. Actors will also be asked to read scenes from the script during the audition.
Auditions will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Linden Performing Arts Building, 18527 E. Front St., Linden.
Callbacks will be held on Tuesday, at the same time and place, and a readthrough will follow on June 11. The rehearsal schedule and other important dates and information will be given out during the auditions. Please be sure to bring a calendar with any potential conflicts.
“Rumors” will be peformed from July 26 to 29, and Aug. 3 to 5. The show will be directed by Sean Bocardo, who also directed the successful run of “In-laws, Outlaws and Other People Who Should Be Shot!”
