DOLORES ELIZABETH FORMENTO

-

Dolores Elizabeth Formento was born on August 6, 1928 in Lodi, California and passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 10, 2018 at the age of 89. Dolores was preceded in death by her parents Lydia and Edwin Bechthold, her brother Alfred Bechthold and her husband of 28 years, Jim Formento and her fiancé Harry Trovinger. She is survived by her loving daughter Denise Trinchera and Lisa Bojé, her grandchildren, James (Sara) Trinchera and Devin (AJ) Valentine and her great-granddaughters Kacie Walker-Valentine and little miss Havannah who stole her heart the day she was born. She is also survived by her nieces Sandy (Nick) Sikeotis of Lodi and Brenda (Ross) Morgan of Quincy. In addition to the family, she leaves behind many lifelong friends and many of which she referred to as “her kids from another mother”.

Dolores lived her whole life in Lodi and graduated from Lodi Union High School in 1946. During her senior year in high school she was an honored member of the Lodi Grape Festival Court. After graduation she began working at Guild Winery until she married the love of her life, Jim, in 1948. In 1958 she began working for the City of Lodi, in the Finance Department, and in 1983 she retired after 25 years of service and making longtime friends, who continued to gather regularly for lunch.

In 1980 she met Harry Trovinger and spent 37 wonderful years as his fiancé. They enjoyed traveling to Lake Tahoe and most of all making trips to Jackson Rancheria! After Harry’s passing, Dolores moved into The Commons and was enjoying the new friends she made while living there.

Many thanks to Sal and Kathy Trinchera and Doug and Peggy Kirkle who were there until the end and always willing to help out, and to the staff at Creekside Care and Hospice of San Joaquin for taking care of our Mom during that last few weeks. We know she was at peace now and with those that have been longing for her arrival in Heaven. We know she arrived with “kissable lips” and ready to dance.

Services to celebrate Dolores’ life will be held at Donahue Funeral Home, 123 N. School Street, Lodi at 10:00 am on Thursday, June 14, 2018. Visitation is from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Wednesday, June 13, 2018. Final interment will be at Cherokee Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Hospice of San Joaquin or the charity of your choice.
