Masked man attempts to choke Lodi woman

- By John Bays

It’s been a busy few days for the Lodi Police Department, with two separate drug and weapon arrests as well as an assault and burglary arrest.

When officers working with the Special Enforcement Team conducted a traffic stop on the 200 block of Donner Drive at approximately 7 p.m. Tuesday, according to Lt. Fernando Martinez, they found that the driver had no license and had the vehicle towed.

While searching the vehicle, officers located approximately 20 grams of cannabis oil packaged for sale as well as a loaded handgun and arrested Daniel Alfaro, 20 and Kyle Ramos, 21, both of Lodi, on suspicion of multiple weapons and drug sale charges.

On Wednesday night, officers responded to a residence on the 400 block of East Oak Street where a masked male, later identified as Andrew Durazo, 27, had reportedly broken in and choked a female resident, Martinez said.

“The victim screamed and her daughter, who had been sleeping, woke up and intervened, stopping the assault,” Martinez said. “Durazo fled, and was arrested about one block away.”

Durazo was arrested on suspicion of assault with force and burglary.

At approximately 4 a.m. Thursday, Officer Ryan LaRue conducted a traffic stop in the area of East Lockeford Street and Beckman Road when he learned that the driver, Casey Dalton, 40, of Lodi, was on parole.

After a handgun and what appeared to be methamphetamine were found in a search of his vehicle, Dalton was arrested on several felony drug and weapons charges.
