Lodi police search for suspect in assault at business office

- By John Bays CBS Sacramento reporter Jennifer McGraw contributed to this report.

As a Lodi woman sat at her office desk earlier this month, she never expected she would have to fight off an attacker during a daytime assault.

At approximately 2:30 p.m. June 15, a man entered the business on the 1400 block of West Kettleman Lane and exchanged a few words with her.

Then, he climbed over the counter and pinned her to the chair with his body weight, according to Lodi Police Lt. Michael Manetti.

“There was some inappropriate touching, but she was able to fight him off and run into another office,” Manetti said. “The suspect fled and she called the police. We have a couple of leads we are following up on, but no one in custody.”

CBS Sacramento reported that the woman, who identified herself as Christina, is still recovering from the attack and hopes her assailant is brought to justice soon.

“I have to walk through life now scared and for my kids; I have daughters,” Christina told CBS reporters. “I am angry and I do want to find him because now I’m losing sleep, I’m getting nightmares. I didn’t think it would affect me that way, but it did.”

CBS Sacramento described the suspect as “an East Indian man in his late 20s or early 30s,” carrying a black backpack and wearing “a long blue sarong-type shirt.”

Anyone with information about the suspect is asked to call the Lodi Police Department at 209-333-6727.
