NY Giants’ Jenkins’ brother arrested after man found dead

The older brother of New York Giants star cornerback Janoris Jenkins has been arrested in the death of a music producer whose body police found at Jenkins’ New Jersey house Tuesday morning, according to TMZ Sports.

William Jenkins, 34, of Fair Lawn, N.J. was charged with aggravated manslaught­er for the death of Roosevelt Rene, New Jersey authoritie­s said. He was in custody Wednesday afternoon in Ontario County near Rochester.

William Jenkins was arrested for an unrelated parole issue in upstate New York on Tuesday at 1:46 a.m., about nine hours before police found Rene’s body at Jenkins’ home in Fair Lawn, per TMZ.

Ontario County officials told the website that there will be an extraditio­n process to bring William Jenkins from Ontario County, New York to Bergen County, a 300-mile trip.

Rene, 25, has been identified as a family friend of Janoris Jenkins. Rene was a music producer, and Jenkins collaborat­ed with him on a rap song in March.

Police reportedly believe Rene was killed by strangulat­ion or suffocatio­n.

William Jenkins has served two different prison sentences over the past 15 years, according to New York State prison records.

He was convicted of sale of a controlled substance in 2006 and was incarcerat­ed from Dec. 6, 2006 until Feb. 2, 2010. He was then convicted of possession and sale of a controlled substance in 2011, and was again locked up from April 4, 2011 until being released on parole on July 18, 2016.
