Morada, Lodi teams win big games

The Morada Little League 910-11 All-Stars baseball team captured the District 8 title with an 11-2 win over Delta at Hoover Tyler Little League Park in Stockton on Friday.

Ryan Oliveri led Morada with three hits in the win. Edward England had two hits, while Morada teammates Robert Soria, Mateo Perez and Jake Sell had a hit each. Perez also produced three RBIs, and Roman Mangrich, Oliveri and Soria had two each. Soria was walked three times.

Perez went all six innings on the mound for Morada. He struck out eight and gave up

four hits.

Next stop for Morada is the Section 6 tournament, which will be played in Tracy or Manteca, on Saturday, July 14.

Lodi BOBS 10 All-Stars 4, Tulare All-Stars 0

Eric Munoz was the man for the Lodi BOBS 10-year-old all star baseball team against Tulare, also on Friday, in the Central California Cal Ripken State championsh­ip tournament in Visalia. On the mound, Munoz tossed a onehitter and struck out five Tulare batters.

Lodi had nine hits in the game. Juan Ulloa-Ceja, Rylan Takahashi and Austin Job had two hits each. Noah Hufford had Lodi’s other hit.

The win moves Lodi into the tournament title game against the San Luis Obispo-Visalia winner. Lodi and the San Luis Obispo-Visalia winner have also earned an automatic berth in the Pacific Southwest Regional, which will be played July 15-21 in Kingsburg as the top two teams from the state tournament.
