Lodi wins three straight at state tournament

The Lodi BOBS 13-year-old all-star baseball team continued its winning ways against Hanford at the Central California Babe Ruth State championsh­ips in Santa Maria on Tuesday night.

A combinatio­n of offense and holding Hanford to three hits helped Lodi post a 3-1 win. Dylan Evans had two of Lodi’s eight hits in the game, one of which was a double. Teammates Joshua Anderson, Cooper Rostomily, Brayden Stout, Dallin Hazelhofer, Steven Whiting and Nate Bettencour­t had a hit each. Gianni Casazza had an RBI, along with Ramos and Whiting.

On the mound, Anderson pitched 6 1/3 innings, struck out nine and gave up only two hits and walked one. Whiting tossed the final two-thirds of the inning.

Today at 3 p.m., Lodi, which went 3-1 at the tournament, will play Five Cities. Should Lodi win that game, it will play Five Cities again 30 minutes after the first game.

Lodi 8, Selma 3

In the second game of pool play on Monday, Barlett and Stout provided offensive power for Lodi. Stout had two hits and two RBIs, and Bartlett scored twice and walked three times.

Casazza, plus Cooper Rostomilly, Hazelhofer, Matt Oliver and Josh Myers had a hit each

Whiting pitched two scoreless innings to secure for Lodi. Evans and Myers had big plays on defense in the game, coming up with many big plays recorded for outs. That included one out that had Lodi hanging onto a 5-3 lead in the top of the fourth inning.

Lodi 13, Northwest Bakersfiel­d 7

Lodi had nine hits in its first game on Monday. Stout had two of the team’s eight hits, plus two RBIs.

Casazza, plus Rostomily, Bartlett, Hazelhofer, Oliver and Myers had a hit each. Barlett also walked three times, and Evans twice.

On the hill, Casazza, Bartlett, Aiden Ramos and Mann split time in which the trio struck out a combined seven and gave up seven hits.
