JANICE LEA HIGGINS

-

April 21, 1941 — July 2, 2018

Janice Lea (Burnside/ Drenning) Higgins passed away at the age of 77. Janice was born at home in Superior, Arizona to Dale and Letha Bessie (McElhaney) Burnside on April 21, 1941. Janice lost her father Dale early in life. Letha married George R. Drenning and together they raised and adored Janice.

Janice attended Downey High School until she married the love of her life, Jack Mitchell Higgins Sr., at the age of 16. Their parents weren’t thrilled, but the two young love birds built a fantastic life together. They were married just short of 58 years.

Jack and Janice relocated to Stockton when Jack was hired onto the Stockton Fire Department. Together they enjoyed traveling, friends and family. They spent time sailing, house boating, and exploring the United States in their motor home.

After Jack’s passing, Janice enjoyed Tuesday bingo at Lodi’s LOEL senior center and lunch out with her kids.

With her outgoing personality and love of life, Janice should be remembered with a smile that mirrors the one she always wore.

Janice is preceded in death by her parents and husband.

She is survived by her five children: Jack Mitchell Higgins Jr. (Elaine), Sharlene Brown (Duane), Elaine Kucera (John), John Higgins (Stacy), Dee Dee Burch (Bill); Grandchildren: Jack Mitchell Higgins III, Mandy Ventura (Robert), Katie Savage (Aaron), Susan Orr (Kevin), Christian Seteroff, Sterling Seteroff, Jessica Magaña (Daniel), Lyndsi Hernandez (Eugene), and Gary Cutri (Rachael); 11 greatgrandchildren and her two dogs: Doofy and Dolly.

Please join the Higgins family for a celebration of life at the Brown Residence in Linden on Saturday, August 4th 11 to 2.

In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the LOEL Senior Center in Lodi or your favorite animal shelter.
