Unsecured personal property taxes due

- — News-Sentinel Staff

STOCKTON — Payment is now due for property tax bills San Joaquin County Assistant Treasurer-Tax Collector Phonxay Keokham has mailed to approximately 15,000 business, boat and aircraft owners in the county as of Monday, according to a Monday press release, and payments made after Aug. 13 will be considered delinquent.

A 10-percent penalty will be applied to bills not paid by 5 p.m. Aug. 31, but payment received through the U.S. mail post-marked on or before Aug. 31 will be considered timely.

If a tax bill has not been received by Aug. 1, call the San Joaquin County TreasurerTax Collector’s Office at 209468-2133. Failure to receive a bill will not waive the responsibility to pay it, nor will it prevent penalties from being imposed.

Payments can be sent by mail to P.O. Box 2169, Stockton, CA 95201-2169, or made in-person from 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday at the San Joaquin County TreasurerTax Collector’s Office, 44 N. San Joaquin Street, Suite 150, Stockton. The office will remain open until 5 p.m. Aug. 31.
