LEON GORDON ADAMSON

-

Born in Petersburg ND September 7, 1931, Leon went to his heavenly home the early morning hours of July 23, 2018 at the age of 86. Leon proudly served his country in the US Air Force during the Korean conflict and was a member of the local American Legion Post 22. He was a member of Gracepoint Church (formerly Temple Baptist Church) for nearly 50 years serving in many capacities during that time.

Leon married Dianna Herr in Fargo ND in 1959 and they enjoyed over 59 years of married life together. Leon moved his young family in 1962 to Lodi CA and lived in the same home for 56 years until his passing.

Leon was gifted in fixing things and enjoyed being a mechanic as his chosen profession. He also helped many local folks with their auto repairs over the years.

Additional talents Leon shared with others included photography, woodworking-making a prayer bench and several podiums for Gracepoint Church where they are used to this day. Leon also enjoyed singing and playing the guitar with different groups through the years including the Ambassador Class of Temple Baptist Church and his own country gospel band The Lodi Country Gentlemen.

Leon enjoyed being involved in organizations such as the Gideons International, Gracepoint Church prayer team and LPD Partners. Leon and Dianna traveled many places with friends and family enjoying the memorable locations and experiences until recently when health issues prevented long distance travel.

His love for the Lord and his faith in Jesus were very important to him, especially in the later years. With a friendly disposition there are many who say “he never knew a stranger” and are blessed to have made acquaintance with Leon.

Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Dianna (Herr) Adamson, daughters Leonda Cook (Scott) and Doreen Logan (Steven) , grandchildren Ben Logan (Anne) and Rachel Maygra (Daron) and great grandchildren Jake and Charlotte Maygra and Cora Logan. Leon is also survived by sister Betty LeRud of Fargo ND and many nieces and nephews.

Leon was preceded in death by his parents, brother LeRoy Adamson and sister Ornell Thrane.
