Lodi Lions Club names new officers

Lion Scott Meyer was recently installed as the Lodi Lions Club and Lodi Lions Club Foundation, Inc., president for 2018-19. He is the 78th president of the Lodi Lions Club. Meyer is the Senior Credit Officer at Community Business Bank. In addition to the Lodi Lions Club, Meyer is on the board of both the Boys and Girls Club and the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Completing the Lodi Lions Club board are: Darlene Machado, first vice-president; Ellen Ashbaugh, second vice-president; past-president Mike O’Connell, secretary; Rich Prima, treasurer; past-president Corey Wright, membership director; Dr. Dee Grewal and Brian Halstead, one-year directors; Celia Edwards and Ninfa Herrera, two-year directors.

A member of the Lodi Lions Club since 2009, Meyer is a Lodi High and University of Michigan graduate with post-graduate studies at the University of Missouri. He and his wife Bre are the parents of three children, Cain, Marli and Brock. Meyer puts his service-minded philosophy to use on a day-to-day basis and is looking forward to serving as president in the upcoming year, leading the club in providing service to the community in addition to helping those in need with vision related services.

Lions Club Internatio­nal is the largest service club organizati­on in the world with more than 1.4 million members in 46,000 clubs throughout the world. Lions clubs are supported by the Lions Club Internatio­nal Foundation (LCIF), which helps fund Lions humanitari­an projects.

Currently, the Lodi Lions Club Foundation is renovating the “Tot-lot” at Emerson Park. Locally, in addition to vision and hearing related services, the Lodi Lions Club also provides college scholarshi­ps, participat­es in the Lions student speaker contest, and is involved in many projects throughout the community. These include the constructi­on of the Lodi Memorial Hospital heliport, previous Emerson Park renovation, Loel Senior Center gardens renovation, Lodi House Thrift Store relocation and the One-Eighty Teen Center refurbishm­ent projects, to name but a few.

The Lodi Lions Club meets every Wednesday at noon in Frank Johnson/Burgundy Hall at the Lodi Grape Festival grounds.
