BARBARA ANN (PROPES) JONES

-

Barbara, known to most as “Barb” was born to John and Norma Propes in Red Bluff, California November 24, 1936 and passed away on August 10, 2018. At an early age Barb and her family moved to Los Angeles where she lived until her mother passed away when she was 10. Barb then moved to Lodi to live with her Grandmother, Retta Stevens. Barb was raised as a Seventh Day Adventist and attended the Adventist Schools in Lodi and was a member of the English Oaks Adventist Church.

Barb was employed by General Mills in Lodi for 32 years. At General Mills she met Wes Jones and the two were married on June 11, 1971. That marriage created a blended family of 5 children; Debra & Steve by Barb and Dennis, Lynn and Marty from Wes. One can only imagine the busy schedules since the 5 children were separated by only 4 total years being ages 16, 15, 14, 13 & 12!

Barb and Wes both retired from General Mills in 1994 and enjoyed many happy years in retirement together. They made trips to Europe, Asia, Mexico, Canada, the Caribbean, Hawaii, Alaska, New England, Washington DC and Florida, along with annual trips to Carmel and frequent jaunts to Southern California to visit family and friends.

Barb was an avid fan of both the SF Giants and the 49ers but above all she was Joe Montana’s #1 fan. She ranked Joe’s championships as some of her most thrilling moments and could quote many of his career statistics upon request (sometimes even without a request!).

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents John and Norma Propes, her Grandmother Retta Stevens, her daughter-nlaw Terri Rodacker and her sister Jeanne Campbell. She is survived by her husband of 47 years Wes Jones, her daughter Debra Stiles (Don) and son Steven Rodacker (Anna) and her stepchildren Dennis Jones (Ranai), Lynn Nilssen (Steve) and Marty Jones (Peggy). In addition Barb is survived by her grandchildren Courtney Gnas (Doug), Casey Rodacker, Jeff Mayer, Kyle Mayer, Jocelyn Crenshaw (Keith), Wesley Jones (Amanda), David Jones (Grace), Deanna Rees (Tim), Karen Toman-Sager (Ben) and Kevin Jones. Barb is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and her precious pups “Louis” and “Tiffy”. Barb truly loved and enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends and she will be missed by all.

Services will be held 11:00am, Tuesday August 21 at Cherokee Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 14165 Beckman Road, Lodi, CA 95240. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org) or Hospice of San Joaquin (www.hospicesj.org).
