SUSAN REISS
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Susan Marie Reiss, 59 years old. She left us on Tuesday, July 31 in Elk Grove, Ca. Susan was born in San Bernardino, CA in January of 1959. When she was 4 years old, the family moved to Lodi, CA where she was raised. Susan graduated from Lodi High School in 1977. She graduated from University of San Francisco with a Bachelor’s degree in 1981 and her Masters in Nursing in 1993. Susan worked as a registered nurse for over 30 years. The span of Susan’s nursing career took her from hospital settings to being a traveling nurse on the Eastern Seaboard as well as a volunteer nurse in Haiti. Her final years of nursing centered on home health care.
In 1989 she received a successful heart transplant, and continued to live her life vivaciously. She loved music, sports, travel, Lake Tahoe and her many friends. She was a gift to all who knew her and she shall be remembered for her kind, adventurous and courageous spirit.
Susan is survived by her loving mother Carol Reiss of Lodi, Ca., sisters Laurie Reiss and Krissy ReissPetersen, brother in law’s David Peterson and Brett Petersen in addition to her nephew and nieces: Ian Peterson, Ebba Peterson Yeo (John Yeo), Madeline and & Claire Petersen, Russell Yeo and Karin Yeo along with countless other friends and a host of aunts, uncles & cousins in Nebraska, all of whom were blessed to know her. She is preceded in death by her father, Dr. Walter E. Reiss M.D., grandparents (mothers) Mildred Sandy Miller and Amy Reiss Lapcheska. A service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October, 5th at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Church, 701 S. Pleasant Ave. in Lodi, Ca., with a reception to follow.
