Lodi golfers pick up first TCAL victory

- Lodi 8, West 1 Price is right for hole-inone

The Lodi High girls golf team got its first Tri-City Athletic League victory on Tuesday, shooting 296 to West’s 368 on Woodbridge Golf & Country Club’s par-37 Lake Course.

Devin Franklin led the Flames (3-2, 1-2 TCAL) with a 45, followed by Caroline Seibly at 56, Holli Becker at 61, Katelyn Gonzalves at 63 and Shelby Yarlbrough at 71.

TENNIS

Five of the six Lodi High girls tennis singles’ players won their TCAL matches against West on Tuesday. Winning their matches for the Flames were No. 1 singles player Nikki Barajas at 6-3, 6-2; Johnna Schroeder 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2; Mia Carouba 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3; Anna Spaletta 6-3, 6-3 at No. 4 and Julia Sherman 6-0, 61 at No. 6.

In the doubles’ matches, Lodi’s No. 1 team of Alyssa Mataga-Kaylee Mataga won 6-0, 6-1. The No. 2 team of Julia Archibeque-Emily Johnson also won at 6-2, 6-1 and Mary Barnes-Victoria Eaton, at No. 3, also won at 6-1, 6-0.

MOTORCYCLE RACING The Lodi Cycle Bowl will host the 20th-annual Toby Jorgensen Memorial and the 100 4-stroke Mini Cycle National TT on Saturday night.

GOLF

Mark Price nailed a hole-inone at Micke Grove Golf Course on Sept. 8, hitting the shot on the seventh hole with a 5-iron. There were four witnesses.
