Harry Ellsworth Bush was born January 23, 1939 in Oakland, California. He passed away in Lodi California on September 24, 2018 surrounded by is loving wife and family.

Harry began school in Oakland and completed high school in Mission San Jose. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gertrude Lynch and Charles Frederick Bush. He was the youngest of 12 children. Harry was preceded in death by ten siblings: Robert F. Bush, Evelyn F. Trum, Olivia “Olie” Cox, John Jack C. Bush, Betty Jean Vargas, Louise Marie Bush, Thomas H. Bush, Edward J. Bush, and Richard Davis Bush. Also preceding Harry in death was his former wife, Monna Lee Dickinson. He is survived by one sister, Barbara V. Wahl; his loving wife of 18 years, Joyce; and sons Gregory Edward and Mark Thomas Bush. Surviving step-children include Scott Marquez, Veronica Delucchi and Nicole Verdun. Harry’s loss will be deeply felt by nine grandchild­ren; Katheryn “Katie” Bush; Chelsea, Chandler and Noah Marquez; Lauren and Jack Delucchi; Devan Barkley, Tiana and Tony Curtis Verdun, Jr. He was greatly loved and will be missed by numerous relatives and friends.

Harry was very proud and boasted of beginning his work career at six years of age, selling newspapers on the streets of Oakland and at the Alameda Naval Base. Soon after high school, Harry joined the Navy and thoroughly enjoyed serving his country for the next four years. His favorite duty was as a submariner aboard the USS Aspro. His last commission was on the USS Chickasaw. After returning home, he married, moved to the Bay Area, and relocated to Lodi around 1968 where he raised his two loving sons.

Harry was extremely talented mechanical­ly and studied engineerin­g after his military discharge. He was well respected and known within the hydraulic profession for his hydraulic designing abilities. In the 1980’s his auto-packer invention became instrument­al throughout the U.S. for the cotton industry by changing the way cotton became harvested.

He loved good food and enjoyed cooking for his family and friends. He also loved ocean fishing, and spending quality time with his good friends, especially Steve Borra. Harry enjoyed worldwide traveling with his loving wife and companion, Joyce M. (Smith) Marquez whom he met in 1996 and married in 2000. The many wonderful lasting memories include dancing, good food and wine along with so many great friendship­s.

His memory will leave a lasting imprint on so many who knew and loved him.

A Celebratio­n of Life will be Friday, September 28, at 12pm (noon) at Lodi Moose Lodge, 3824 Woodbridge Rd. Acampo, Ca 95220.
