A special thanks to someone special

- @lodinews.com.

Editor: In last week’s lengthy column, I mentioned all the local columnists who keep local interest going — and I forgot a very special one, who also happens to be a former student and a romance novelist of note, so I must apologize most deeply to Susan Crosby, particularly since she wrote me a beautiful note of thanks for the help I gave her early on.

My only excuse is that my lame brain was going through all the columnists in the editorial pages and forgot those in Lodi Living. Dear Susan, please forgive me for not mentioning your column about senior citizen interests and for serving on the Senior Citizen Community Board. Long may you wave! GWIN PADEN Lodi

Liberal rage out of control

Editor: So much for respecting women. Sen. Susan Collins, who I rarely agree with, laid out a reasoned, lucid argument for Judge Kavanaugh, going point by point shredding the accusations against him by an unhinged mob and the mob came unglued.

Did you see the professional protesters coaching mostly collegeaged youths on what to say and do? Attacking lawmakers and their staff in halls and elevators, on the streets, in restaurants and even at their homes with the consent and urging of Democratic politicians. These are Saul Alinsky tactics straight out of “Rules for Radicals.” Intimidate, threaten, and even physically harm those that disagree.

To the mob anyone who disagrees is not only wrong but they are criminally wrong and must be silenced at any cost. Sen. Collins put it perfectly that when emotions are inflamed, fairness is in jeopardy. What the mob is doing is what liberals fought against in the 1950s. Unsubstantiated accusations against people for being communist, ruined lives and livelihoods, tore families and friends apart without due process and the rule of law where you are innocent until proven guilty. This is McCarthyism, which the liberals of my youth fought against but the liberals of today have embraced. Democratic liberals are looking at what their beloved party has become and cannot in good conscience follow.

I firmly believe that Democrats/Independents left their parties in 2016 and voted for Trump putting him in the White House. After what we witnessed these last few months even more will come over to the party of the rule of law, strong borders and national defense, respect for law enforcement and our flag that so many sacrificed for.

What does the mob stand for other than perpetual rage, divide and conquer, intimidation and violence?

This nation has the best economy in our history and record low unemployment for blacks, Asians and Latinos. We’re no longer the world’s ATM and trade agreements have been redone putting America first. The mob’s policies have brought us to bankruptcy but that’s all changed. All the mob has left is rage.
