Ted Nishizaki, 75, passed away suddenly but peacefully October 13 at Vienna Nursing and Rehabilita­tion center.

He was born at the Tule Lake Concentrat­ion Center during world war II. He was a lifelong resident of Lodi and graduated in 1961 from Lodi Union High School. He joined the army and was stationed at the Pentagon. Upon his return to Lodi he attended electricia­n school and did motor rewinding for Gundershau­g Electric Co. Then, for over 25 years he worked for Robert Mondavi Winery, Woodbridge, CA.

For over 30 years he loved diving for abalone at Dillon Beach with friends and family, was an avid A’s, S.F Giants, 49er’s and Sacramento Kings fan. He coached basketball, loved playing volleyball and relaxed watching sports and movies on television. Gardening was a passion, tomatoes being his specialty.

A lifelong member of the Buddhist Church of Lodi, he always answered the call for help in setting up the various functions throughout the year for which the church was known for.

Ted is survived by his wife Dorothy and brothers Fred of Clements, CA, Eddie of Dixon, CA, Bob of NV, and sisters Alice Inouye and Harriet Matsumoto of Lodi, CA. Step children Ken and Mark Seibel of Lodi, LaVonne Sawyer of Seattle, WA, grandchild­ren Kayla Seibel, Krystal, Greg, Matt, Jeff, Kelsey and Nick Sawyer. Great grandchild­ren, nieces and nephews. He held a special place in his heart for great grandchild Madison Macheel whom he helped raise since he had no children of his own.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 28th, 2018 at the Lodi Buddhist Temple; 23 N.
