KATHLEEN GEARHART
June 24, 1937 — October 28, 2018
Kathleen passed away peacefully after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for many years. She was dearly loved by her husband Roger, her family and her many good friends.
Kathleen was born in Peoria, IL to Russell and Mary Branchfield. Her father was a WWII Naval Officer and the family moved as her father was transferred: Boston, Norfolk, San Diego, and Pasadena. Kathleen married Bob Waters in 1955 in Frankfort, IL. He passed away in 1985; Kathleen also lost her daughter Lori (Tom) Borck in 2015.
Kathleen was a strikingly beautiful and a truly elegant and loving person. She was employed by the Stanford Linear Accelerator Center, where she managed a large department. Kathleen will be remembered as always kind and pleasant but with a strong personality.
Kathleen and Roger were married in 1995 and soon moved to Woodbridge. They travelled extensively; Kathleen delighted in visiting our National Parks and the many places where she had lived. She had a deep affection for the American Southwest. They enjoyed cruises: Alaska, the Mexican Riviera and the Panama Canal. Kathleen and Roger were very active in the Danish-American community and enjoyed so many good times with longtime friends. She always enjoyed great music and playing cards with her family.
Kathleen is survived by her loving husband Roger, devoted son Scott and Margie Waters of Ramona, CA, son-in-law Tom Borck, grandchildren Keely Moats and Ian Borck, three great grandchildren, sisters Mary Ellen (Brooks) Carver, Canton, IL, and Carolyn Varner, San Carlos. Kathleen was very involved in and much loved by Roger’s family; daughter Anne Gearhart of San Mateo and son Jim and Traci Gearhart with grandchildren Cameron and Alexis of San Rafael.
There will be a Memorial for Kathleen at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Lodi, on December 1st. Family and friends will gather 10 to 11 am to enjoy coffee with Danish pastries. The Memorial will be 11 am. Family and friends will gather for lunch at the Woodbridge Crossing at 1 pm.
