Leona Bernice (Kuehne) Moats, 80, passed away on Jan. 24 in her Acampo home. She was born on September 15, 1938 in Long Prairie, Minnesota to Walter and Rosa Kuehne. She was the only daughter along with 8 brothers.

In 1944 she, her mother, and brothers loaded a trooper train along with soldiers and headed to Central Valley, CA.

Leona was brought up in a Lutheran Church, and she loved the Lord. She graduated from Shasta High School in Redding, CA in 1956.

She met the love of her life Buddy Moats and moved to Sacramento and lived there for 12 years and had two beautiful daughters.

In 1972 the family moved to Lodi, CA and Buddy started his own business American Fire Systems. where Leona worked as a part-time secretary until 1995. Her passion in life was golfing, gambling, playing bunco with her friends, and spending time with her family. She was always telling jokes to her friends and strangers, and always making people laugh.

Leona loved her family and adored her grandchild­ren and great grandchild­ren. She loved to travel, and was always on the go.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Rosa, brothers; Junior, Leroy, Reuben, Marvin, Norman and David.

She is survived by her loving husband Buddy Moats, daughters; Michelle (Wayne) Weisz, and Melody Moats, grandchild­ren; Tyler (Candace) Weisz, Tory (Amanda) Weisz, greatgrand­children; Brooklyn, Avery, and Cade.

Leona will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. Until we meet again, we all know you are in the arms of our Lord Jesus.

A celebratio­n of life will be on February 11th, at 11:00 a.m. at Vineyard Chapel at Cherokee Memorial Park, in Lodi, CA. Committal will be private.
