JERRY DON OTTO

-

IN LOVING MEMORY OF

Jerry Don Otto, age 82, of Lodi, CA, joined his Lord and Savior when he passed away on Friday, February 1, 2019 in the company of his children. He was born on August 26, 1936, in Stockton, CA to Helmuth Otto Sr. and Rose T. Otto.

Jerry had an amazing ability to light up a room with his energy, laughter and humor. He made everyone around him feel special and loved and he will be sorely missed every day by those he touched. He will be remembered by his family, friends and, in some cases, random people he met on the street, as a truly selfless individual who devoted his life to his family, community and his faith in God. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and much more, who was tireless in his efforts to help others.

He attended Galt High School and, as he liked to say, the “University of Galt” for his post-high school education. Before retirement in the late 90’s, he owned his own business as a distributor for Crystal Creamery. Jerry enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, his annual trip to Alaska and other fishing trips with his many fishing buddies, travel with his friends and family, reading, gardening, attending youth sporting events for his kids, grandkids, nieces and nephews, cheering on the Giants or 49ers and being a friend to anyone willing.

Jerry was preceded in death by Donna, his beloved wife for 54 years; his parents; brothers Richard Wayne and Helmuth Jr.; and sister Vera Drone. He is survived by his son Todd and his wife Cindy of Acampo; daughter Carrie Engelman and her husband Jim and their children Eric and Greta of San Diego; sister Beulah Tonn of Mesa, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service is to be scheduled at St. Peter where we will celebrate his exemplary Christian life as a faithful member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jerry’s name to St. Peter Lutheran Church (for Sac Street Ministry), Grace & Mercy Charitable Foundation of Lodi www.gracenmercylodi.com or the American Cancer Society.
