Laurence “Dean” Tyrrell, passed away on February 3, 2019, at the age of 89. Born on February 25, 1929 in Kansas City, MO. Dean is preceded in death by his parents George and Mable; wife Jacqueline; second wife Betty; son Tim; and brother George.

His family moved to Red Bluff, CA in 1929 and later to Colusa, CA where he grew up and graduated from high school. His family then moved to Stockton where he attended Stockton City College, which later became Delta Junior College.

He married Jacqueline Hussey in 1951 and joined the Navy where he served in Japan during the Korean War. Returning from the war, he had a career as a butcher and ran his own drive-in restaurant­s. He later had success as a meat salesman. He and Jacqueline had four children. He survived her death in 1971 to remarry in 1972 having a joyful second marriage with his wife Betty.

He and Betty spent time together golfing, playing cribbage and motor-homing around the country. They always enjoyed entertaini­ng friends and filling their home with laughter and love. Dean was a true family man and will be remembered for his quick wit, strength and loyalty. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, Odd Fellows and Eagles.

Dean is survived by his son Larry Tyrrell (Deena) of Portland, OR; daughters Lynn Stocker (Chris) of San Francisco, CA; and, Tammi Rizzolo (Mark) of Lodi, CA. He will also be fondly remembered by his grandchild­ren Leia Tyrrell of Portland, OR; Julie Rizzolo of San Jose, CA; and Shaun Rizzolo of San Luis Obispo, CA.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, 1540 W Lodi Ave. Lodi, CA 95242. In lieu of flowers gifts in Dean’s memory may be made to Loel Senior Center, 105 S. Washington Street, Lodi, CA 95240.
