Tokay soccer finishes undefeated in TCAL

The Tokay boys soccer team finished the regular season with a 3-1 victory over Lincoln to finish with a 15-1-2 overall record and 8-0-2 in the Tri-City Athletic League.

Lio Ruiz scored twice, with Matt Salas adding one more. Alfonso Ochoa, Eduardo Guillen and Jose Gonzalez each had an assist. Cristian Valencia blocked four shots. Varsity

West 2, Lodi 0

The Flames finished the regular season with a shutout loss, but finished third in the TCAL and will advance to the Sac-Joaquin Section playoffs, with the brackets coming out on Friday.

Julian Lopez blocked nine shots with a depleted squad in front of him due to injuries and illness. Brendon Duran, Cristian Gonzalez, Will Isquierdo and Jesus Santillan had good games for Lodi.

Junior varsity

Lodi 3, West 3

The Flames fell behind 3-1 before mounting a comeback with 10 minutes remaining in Wednesday’s tie. Adrian Villalobos scored twice, and D.J. Van Ness scored the equalizer on a penalty kick.

Saul Guzman and Eldiberto Perez tallied assists, while Matt Phillips had six saves and Bryan Velez had three. Niko Lopez, Robert Herrera, Jake Vargas and Danny Maldonado played well for Lodi.

Lincoln 76, Tokay 30

Adam Johnson led the Tigers with 11 points in Wednesday’s loss, along with seven from Austyn Reiswig, four each from Hamza El Kheidi and Mohammad Ibrahim, two from Michael Shoaib and one each from Jayden Matt and Daniel Penaflor.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday at Lodi.

Lincoln 50, Tokay 40

Ryker Henne led the Tigers with 18 points in Wednesday’s loss, along with 11 from Nick Merrill, four from Jorden Lawrence, three fromA.J. O’Grodnick, two each from Uri Penaflor and Andrew Gauna.
