ELAINE V. SEIBEL (STROH)

-

Elaine was born at John’s Lake Township, North Dakota February 13, 1925, to Alvina Bohle Stroh and John Stroh. She passed from her earthly home February 1, 2019, just days short of her 94th birthday. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers Millard and Elmer. Elaine is survived by her brother Malen Stroh (Beverly), sister Lenie Hagy (John) both of Lodi, and daughters Janys Anderson of Roseville, and Joanne Davis (William Ott) of Sacramento. She was also “second Mom” to Deborah Roden of Rio Vista. Elaine cherished her family: Granddaughter Tina Anderson, Grandsons Derrek Davis (Jennifer) and Devin Davis (Erica) and great-grandchildren Dillon, Daniel and Luke Davis. She was a special “Auntie” to two generations of nieces and nephews.

The Stroh family farmed in North Dakota where Elaine attended a two room schoolhouse; one room for grades one through eight and one room for the library. In 1936 they loaded the Model A with the seven family members and a few possessions and headed for California. They settled in Lodi where Elaine graduated from Lodi High School in 1943. In 1956 she moved to Sacramento with her two daughters.

Elaine’s professional career spanned over three decades with Sacramento County. During her tenure she marked many milestones and retired as the County’s Senior Buyer. Her more noted projects included designing workspaces and courtrooms, and purchasing the required furnishings and fittings for the Sacramento County Courthouse built in 1965. In 1967 she outfitted the “newly opened” Sacramento International Airport with everything from TP to fire trucks. Over time she purchased nearly every commodity the County required, and assisted in the development of their first computer system.

Elaine was President of the Board of Directors of the Sacramento Credit Union and served multiple terms as a Board Member. She held a variety of offices in the Sacramento County Retired Employees Association and assisted in publishing the monthly newsletter. As a resident of Casa de Flores Mobile Home Park for over 30 years, she was elected many times to be the President of the CDF Social Club, held numerous other offices and Chaired a variety of Committees. She also published the monthly newsletter.

Elaine was a great seamstress, creating her wardrobe from the finest fabrics and most fashionable patterns to support her professional career. She loved her getaways at Star Canyon Ranch, Country and Big Band music, travel, and playing Bridge. For many years she made candy and hand dipped chocolates for every occasion. Everyone looked forward to Elaine’s candy at Christmas. She could tell you about every dinosaur that roamed the Earth and the movement of every tectonic plate. She was self-taught through her passion for books and reading.

Per her wishes, there will be no services. The family would like to thank the management and residents of Casa de Flores for their years of friendship to her. Special thanks to Regency Place Assisted Living and Suncrest Hospice for making her final months and days comfortable.

Please consider a donation in her name to Kitten Central of Placer County, 5130 Fruitvale Rd., Newcastle, CA 95658 or to a charity of your choosing.
