New Jersey doesn’t have state song

Despite being the birthplace of Count Basie, Whitney Houston, Mary Chapin Carpenter, Jon Bon Jovi, Bruce Springstee­n and Frank Sinatra, New Jersey is the only U.S. state that doesn’t have an official state song. Apparently, Garden State lawmakers can’t pick just one. They’ve tried many times over the years including in 2016, when a bill was proposed designatin­g five separate songs (none by the abovenamed artists) as “official.” The idea was voted down.
