Reese fifth-graders take trip to Alcatraz — and escape
A big thank you to Walmart for a $2,750 grant to our fifth-graders. The three fifth-grade classes of Mrs. Nickel, Mrs. Marini, and Mr. Yip used the money to go on a daylong trip to Alcatraz. The fifthgraders spent the month leading up to the trip learning about the history of Alcatraz. When they returned they created projects and did writing activities on what they saw and learned about while on the island. It was a very fun and educational day and we are very appreciative of this very generous donation from Walmart.
State Capitol
Mrs. Nickel’s class took a trip to the State Capitol in Sacramento. While they were there, they were able to meet with Assemblyman Jim Cooper in his office. He talked about how his education and how he became interested in being a lawmaker. The students greatly enjoyed their visit.
And the band plays on
Mr. Shorts does a fantastic job as the school’s music and band teacher. He meets with the students two times a week for band. This spring he treated the Reese students to an outside concert in the courtyard. The students sounded outstanding and enjoyed showing off all their hard work!
Senior walk
We welcomed back our Reese Roadrunners who graduated in the Class of 2019 from Lodi High, with 32 students returning to campus in their caps and gowns. Reese students lined the hallways cheering on the seniors while “Celebration” played in the background.
After their journey around campus, everyone came together in the courtyard where we listened to some words of wisdom from the high school graduates. Our Reese students were told to work hard, do their homework, be true to themselves, get involved in activities at school and always go the extra mile.
Our former students are heading off this fall to a variety of colleges including: UC Santa Barbara, Cal Baptist, UC Berkeley, Delta College, Gonzaga University, University of Utah, Miramar College, Lineman College of Idaho, Loyola Marymount University, Boise State, Grand Canyon University, the Air Force, Weber State, University of Nebraska, University of Nevada, Reno, William Jessup, and the University of Arizona. We wish our former Roadrunners well in all of their new adventures.
