Pastor from Lodi accused of molesting Tulare County kids

- By Sheyanne N Romero

A former Lindsay pastor is accused of molesting children in his congregation, according to Tulare County sheriff’s detectives.

Although he left the Tulare County church more than a decade ago, the 68year-old man now serves as a pastor in Stockton. Detectives believe there could be additional victims.

On Thursday, Tulare County special victims detectives arrested Gustavo Gonzalez Zamora of Lodi on numerous child molestation allegations.

Detectives began the investigation in February after several adult victims came forward alleging abuse by Zamora when they were children in Tulare County.

Detectives didn’t release how many victims have come forward with allegations.

Victims told detectives the abuse took place between 1994 and 2000. During that time, Zamora headed the Apostolic Assembly Church in Lindsay.

The incidents occurred at the church and other locations within Tulare County, detectives said.

Zamora abruptly left the church in 2000 and moved to Lodi, where he serves as a pastor in Stockton, according to detectives.

He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. He’s being held in the Tulare County Jail until that hearing.

Detectives encourage anyone with information on the investigation or potential victims to call Detective Eli Venegas and or Sgt. Jesse Cox at (559) 7336218 or anonymous by calling or texting (559) 7254194 or through email at tcso@tipnow.com.
