Aren’t things getting out of hand?

-

Editor: If trends go the way they are: George Washington had slaves thus tear down the Washington Memorial, rename Washington, D.C., and change the face of the dollar bill. Thomas Jefferson had slaves: thus tear down the Jefferson Memorial, change the face of the five-dollar bill and change the name of every town, and street named after him.

Now how about Mount Rushmore? It is my opinion, but aren't things getting a little out of hand?

The end of history

Editor: The rule of the mob has taken over our beloved country. Destruction of property, ransacking stores, starting fires, wholesale murder in the large cities. And now the pulling down of statues of historic people in our past history.

They don’t care what statues they take down. They probably have no idea what the people did for this country. The next move will be to burn all books and burn down libraries. The reason for knowing our history is to learn from the past, so that we do not make the same mistakes again. When the past is erased, the mob is free to do what ever they please.

The criminals will then take over our homes, large cities and small towns all over the nation. No past, no future — that is their end game.

Confused yet?

Editor: On June 12, News-Sentinel staff writer Wes Bowers wrote an article in which Daniel Wolcott, president and chief executive officer of Adventist Health Lodi Memorial Hospital, reminded all of us to stick with COVID-19 protocols. According to Wolcott, the fear of COVID-19 is keeping ill people from going to the hospital and stated there are nearly as many deaths from people avoiding treatment as there were from the virus.

In the same article Wolcott would not disclose how many positive cases of the virus were currently at the hospital and how many have been admitted for COVID-19 treatment.

In my opinion this article does not ease the fears people have of the virus and I also wonder why Mr. Wolcott would refuse to disclose how many cases the hospital actually treated. Did he not know the number or were there so few as to be statistically insignificant or were there so many he thought it might increase the fear of going to the hospital by some who needed to go.

The next day in the News-Sentinel there was another article stating a probable second wave of the virus due in September. I wonder why not August, October or November?

While I was trying to understand what the facts are about this virus I read in the Stockton Record on June 15 that the accuracy is still unknown for many of the coronavirus tests being rushed out.

Recently, I read the governor is requiring that everyone wear a mask while in public businesses or close quarters. Since he gave the communist Chinese $1 billion of taxpayer money I wonder if he is going to give each resident a mask.

For the life of me I don't understand why people are so confused about this virus. Perhaps I will read another article soon that will explain it to me.

Where are your masks?

Editor: I was shocked to see in last Wednesday’s Lodi NewsSentinel the photos of the parents protesting LUSD plans for distance learning.

Not one person had on a mask and it appeared social distancing was also not being observed.

I’m assuming these were parents so my question is: What example are you setting for your children by not wearing face masks and not observing social distancing guidelines?

I also noticed the LUSD representative was also mask-less so I really question just how safe it is to visit LUSD’s administration building at this time.

I absolutely support the right of folks to rally and protest issues in public, however, during this COVID-19 pandemic I believe they must be required to wear masks and social distance. If not, they should be removed.
