Lodi lodge donates thousands to nonprofits

-

Lodi Lodge No. 256 Free and Accepted Masons donated $4,000 to local nonprofit organizations on July 10.

The club donated $2000 to the One-Eighty Teen Center located at 17 W. Lockeford St. The money is to be used to further the group’s work to help at-risk youth in the community. The nonprofit provides individual and family counseling, job readiness training, substance-abuse counseling and many other related services.

One-Eighty Director Allison McGregor said that the arrival of the funds is timely as it will help repair a badly needed electrical generator on the mobile unit, a converted school bus that is used to carry services into the community.

The lodge also donated $2,000 to the World of Wonder Science Museum located at 2 N. Sacramento St. The funds are to be used to further the group’s work to provide a year-round science experience to all ages, pre-K to sixth grade, including inhouse exhibits and activities and field study trips, outreach programs and science camps.

Director Sally Snyde said that the arrival of the funds is timely as it can be used to increase their outreach services to the community.

Donated funds derive from a community betterment fund established in 2011 by a lodge member and to date the donations total over $15,000. Funds have been provided to a number of local community groups that include Annie’s Angels, Lodi Police Foundation, Woodbridge Elementary School PTA science camp, PALS, Lodi Boys and Girls Club, and many others.
