Not living up to standard

-

Editor: I just got back from Burger King and they have a sign up saying you have to pay with the exact change or with a credit card because apparently there is a serious coin shortage in the United States! My printer ran out of ink so I went to the store to buy some more, and I was told they didn't have the ink I needed because there is a serious ink shortage in this country! Some days I don't get my mail until 7 p.m. and I have heard that the U.S. Postal Service might go bankrupt in the near future, and may have to close post offices all over the country!

I can't take my wife to a restaurant to eat unless we sit outside, and going to a movie is out of the question. If I want to go to church to pray for an end to the COVID-19 I am told that church services are limited to only 100 people and have to be held outside. I have friends in Mexico and they tell me they don't have problems like this down there, and they have the COVID virus under better control than we do!

We used to be the greatest nation on earth, and we could solve any problems that came our way. But now that we are in the 21st century and we have all the latest technology we seem to be paralyzed and unable to solve our problems.

Our quality of life was much better and less complicated 50 or 60 years ago! Do we have to move to some third world country in order to get a better lifestyle?

If it is too expensive to make pennies and nickels, why don't we just discontinue them, round up or down, and mint more dimes and quarters? And if we need more ink or toilet paper or bleach, why don't we just make more? We need leaders in this country who can make decisions and solve problems, and once again be an example to the rest of the world.
