Elway diagnosed; Ravens, Packers hit
As the NFL closes the book on Week 8 and looks ahead to Week 9, there are new developments in the league’s fight against the coronavirus.
ESPN’s Todd Archer reports the Cowboys have placed quarterback Andy Dalton on the reserve/COVID-19 list. You can read more about that here.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reports “the #Packers officially place LB Kamal Martin and RB Jamaal Williams on the COVID-19 reserve list because they are high-risk close contacts with AJ Dillon.” Starting running back Aaron Jones is questionable with a calf injury meaning Green Bay could be down to its fourth-string running back Thursday against the San Francisco 49ers.
CBS Sports’ Jason LaCanfora reports “the Ravens have 6 close contacts for Marlon Humphrey. They remain isolated for five days pending test results, per NFL. League notes in several instances teams with one positive test with numerous highrisk contacts have been able to mitigate spread.”
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reports “there actually will be seven #Ravens players added to the Reserve/COVID-19 list today, I’m told — six who had game-day contact with CB Marlon Humphrey, plus another who had social contact. None of them will practice this week, but all should be on track to be cleared by Sunday.”
ESPN’s Jeff Legwold reports “Denver Broncos president of football operations/general manager John Elway and president and CEO Joe Ellis have each tested positive for COVID-19 and are isolating at home.
The Washington Post’s Mark Maske reports the “NFL says it is strongly encouraging all players to wear masks while on the sideline during games. It’s not an in-game requirement.”
USA TODAY’s Mike Jones reports the “NFL is also making it a requirement that players wear masks for post-game interactions with opposing team.”
