Editor: As if 2020 didn’t have enough chaos and uncertainty with COVID-19, we now have a messy, or perhaps fraudulent, election.

Some people are dancing in the street at its result while others are protesting in anger. Politicians and their associated parties are warring with each other while they jockey for power, and all the while our country‘s future hangs in the balance.

Indeed, the future is cloudy right now, and many Christians are very concerned about the possibility of losing religious liberty and about the possibility of ungodly laws and policies being enacted. But remember, the election results didn’t take God by surprise. In His sovereignty He allowed them to happen. Yes, He could have changed the outcome if He chose to, but He didn’t.

Why? We don’t know for sure, but I believe it is all part of His eschatological plans. In studying biblical accounts of the end times, powers from the East, North, and South are mentioned, but powers from the West are not. I believe this is because the Western world (Europe and North America) crumbles into insignificance in the last days.

We have rejected God and have become morally bankrupt, and are crumbling from within, and this election could just be another step in America’s slide into oblivion. Have we sinned so grievously (abortion, sexual perversion of every kind, redefining marriage, redefining gender, idolatry, etc.) that we are beyond all hope of forgiveness and only await His righteous judgment?

Only He knows, so we don’t just throw in the towel. We must continue to humbly repent and cry out to Him for an end time revival. We continue to worship and serve Him until He executes His judgment or takes us home. Remember,

my friends, this world and this country aren’t our home. Heaven is. Our hope isn’t in a political party or a President. Our hope is in the Sovereign God who alone is King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

So don’t worry or despair. He’s in total control and is working out His perfect plans. Keep your eyes riveted on Jesus who alone is our joy, peace, and hope.
